Grace That Levels the Ground (Proverbs 22:2)

Listen Here:

Proverbs 22:2

The rich and the poor meet together;
the Lord is the Maker of them all.

The Lord doesn’t simply aim to get man into heaven; He aims to get heaven into man — to redeem souls and then send those souls back into the world like living lanterns, spreading the brightness of His name.

And what does that look like? It looks like communities where grace runs in both directions — humbling the lofty and lifting the lowly. It looks like engaging the rich without flattery and the poor without pity, knowing that every heart beats by the same divine breath. The gospel bows the proud and braces the broken, seating both at the same table.

Here to me lies a strong, simple application of this text:

Every person you meet bears the Maker’s mark.

Rich or poor. Black or white. Young or old. God formed them; Christ died for them; the Spirit woos them.

So see them that way. Train your eyes to recognize the King’s imprint on every face. And treat each soul with dignity, especially the ones we’re most tempted to overlook. If you meet the homeless man on the corner, remember: he carries heaven’s watermark. Be generous. Be courteous. Be Christlike.

Let’s pray.
