Nothing Stays Hidden Forever (Proverbs 10:9)

Listen Here:

Proverbs 10:9

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.

This verse reveals two types of assurance.

First, the one who walks in integrity is someone who lives in alignment with God’s will and ways. That doesn’t mean they’re perfect, but it does mean they walk before God, not just before men. And because of that, the one walking uprightly can be assured of their security. They are secure in Christ.

But the one who “makes his ways crooked” can only be sure of one thing – eventual exposure.

These are two vastly different and completely opposite outcomes: security and exposure.

The person of integrity walks freely, without fear of being found out, because they have nothing to hide. But the one with crooked ways? They live with the weight of knowing that, sooner or later, the truth will come out. They will, as the verse concludes, “be found out.”

And if that exposure – that finding out – doesn’t happen in this life, it will happen in the next, when we stand before God and give an account for our lives. On that day, the day of judgment, only those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus will be secure – not those who lived perfectly, but those who lived repentantly, seeking to walk in His ways, to live in integrity.

So let me ask you:

  • Are you walking in integrity – or is there a “double-life” component to your life?

  • If everything in your life was fully exposed today, what would it reveal?

  • What does security in Christ look like for you right now?

Let’s pray.
