Listening well is an act of love. Proverbs 18:13 calls us to slow down, ask more questions, and hear others before answering, following the example of Jesus, who listens to us and makes space for us.

Do you listen to understand or simply wait to speak? Proverbs 18:2 warns against finding more pleasure in our opinions than in wisdom. Consider where you are more eager to be heard than to learn from God’s Word.

Proverbs 10:19 warns of the danger of too many words and the wisdom of restraint. Reflect on careless speech, Christ’s forgiveness, and asking God for discernment to know when to speak and when to remain silent.
